Vitreous China vs Standard Ceramic
Vitreous china is a specific high-temperature ceramic formulation defined by:
- Very low water absorption — typically under 0.5% by mass
- Glass-like surface vitrification that resists staining and chemical attack
- Dimensional stability through repeated thermal cycling
For a toilet, that translates to a body that doesn't absorb staining, doesn't soak up cleaning chemicals over years, and maintains its surface gloss without degradation. It's the premium ceramic specification — most mid-range toilets use it.
Back-to-Wall Design
