A rubber diverter adapter designed to fit bench-top water filters to older or non-standard kitchen taps — the solution when the standard threaded diverter valve (the one supplied with most bench-top filters) won't fit your existing tap spout.
The Problem This Solves
Most bench-top water filters ship with a diverter valve that screws onto a standard external thread on modern Australian kitchen tap spouts — typically 22 mm or 24 mm external thread. The diverter takes the place of the aerator that came with the tap, then routes water either out the tap as normal or up to the filter when you flip the valve.
This works fine on most kitchen taps installed in the last 20 years. It doesn't work on:
- Older brass taps with no external thread on the spout
- Heritage or character taps with proprietary aerator fittings
- Spouts where the aerator is press-fit rather than threaded
- Taps with internal-thread spouts where standard external-thread diverters can't grip
For any of these, the rubber diverter adapter is what bridges the gap — a flexible rubber connector that grips the tap spout from the outside and provides a standard connection for the diverter on the other end.
