A 55W high-flow UV water steriliser with a Philips quality lamp — top of the residential UV range, sized for full whole-house flow at up to 45 L/min (2,700 LPH) through a 304-grade stainless steel chamber. The right tier for larger Australian homes, premium rural installations, and small-commercial pathogen-kill needs on rain, bore, or any untreated supply.
What UV Does at This Scale
UV water sterilisation is one of the most effective methods of disinfecting water — no chemicals, no harmful residues. This 55W unit's Philips quality lamp drives enough UV-C output at the germicidal 254 nm wavelength to handle peak whole-house demand without dropping below germicidal dose levels.
Manufacturer specification on suitable pre-treated feed water:
- Up to 99.9999% reduction of bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, and other micro-organisms
- Effective treatment for Cryptosporidium and Giardia in town water supplies

Important: Connection Size
This 55W unit uses 3/4" male thread inlet and outlet. The closely-related 40W version uses 1/2" male thread. Two units that look near-identical at a glance — confirm the thread size before ordering against existing plumbing.
The bulb configurations also differ: this 55W uses Philips 2-pin each side bulbs; the 40W uses 4-pin one-side bulbs. Not interchangeable at replacement time.

Maintenance
Replace the UV lamp every 12 months even if it's still glowing — UV-C output drops below germicidal levels before visible lamp failure. Keep the quartz sleeve clean — mineral or organic film drops UV transmission even when the lamp is healthy. Pre-filter the feed water to 5 micron or better.
