A 55W high-flow UV water steriliser — the top of the residential UV range and the start of the commercial spectrum. The 55W Philips lamp drives enough UV-C output at the germicidal 254 nm wavelength to handle continuous flow rates up to 45 L/min (2,700 LPH) in a 304 stainless steel chamber. The right tier for full whole-house demand on larger Australian homes, commercial kitchens, and small-scale water purification operations.
What This Tier Buys You
A mid-flow 25W chamber covers a 4-bedroom home most of the time but can bottleneck during peak demand events — multiple showers, dishwasher, and washing machine all running at once. The 55W chamber:
- Handles peak demand at full whole-house flow without UV dose dropping below germicidal levels
- Tolerates higher turbidity in the feed water — more lamp output means UV penetrates further into water with less-than-perfect pre-filtration
- Provides headroom for future flow demand growth (extensions, additional fixtures)
Manufacturer specifies up to 99.9999% reduction of Bacteria, Viruses, Algae, and Fungi on suitable pre-treated feed, with effective treatment for Cryptosporidium and Giardia in town water supplies.
Important: Connection Size
This 55W unit uses 3/4" male thread inlet and outlet — note this is different from the 40W version which uses 1/2" male thread on the same form factor. If you're matching to existing plumbing, confirm thread size before ordering.

Maintenance
Replace the UV lamp every 12 months. Keep the quartz sleeve clean — mineral or organic film drops UV transmission even if the lamp itself is healthy. Pre-filter the feed water to 5 micron or better; UV-C light cannot reach pathogens that are shadowed by sediment.
