A 3-cartridge replacement set sized for whole-house filter systems using 20" × 2.5" housings — the slimmer of the two common whole-house cartridge formats, often found on smaller installations or older systems pre-dating the Big Blue standardisation.
What's in the Set
- Stage 1 — 5 micron PP sediment cartridge: 100% pure polypropylene fibres, high dirt-holding capacity. Removes dust, particles, and rust before they reach the carbon stages downstream.
- Stage 2 — 5 micron carbon block: dense block carbon construction. Removes free chlorine, odour, organic contaminants, pesticides, and the chemicals responsible for taste and odour in chlorinated supplies.
- Stage 3 — 5 micron GAC (coconut-shell granular activated carbon): higher-surface-area activated carbon from coconut shell rather than coal. Provides additional chlorine reduction and chemical adsorption capacity in the polish stage.
Service Interval
Each cartridge has a recommended replacement interval of approximately 6 months under typical Australian town water conditions. Installations on heavier sediment loads (rural tank water, bore water with iron) may need more frequent changes; installations on light-use cabins or seasonal properties can stretch slightly longer.
Compatibility
Fits any standard whole-house 20" × 2.5" cartridge housing. If your system is the wider Big Blue 20" × 4.5" format, use the 3-stage 20" × 4.5" replacement set instead — the cartridges look similar but the diameters are not interchangeable.
